Allen, G Freeman  The Last Years of British Steam: First Series, IA, pp128.  No date.  Hb.  VG+ in a VG dust wrapper.  Small inscription, the number "194."  The red background on the spine of the cover has faded.  An excellent selection of photographs from throughout Britain.  2.95

Allen, G Freeman and Whitehouse P B  Eric Treacy: Railway Photographer, D&C, 1982 pp216, including 24 pages of colour.  Large Format.  Hard Cover.  Very Good in a Very Good dust wrapper. Some loss of colour to the spine of the dust wrapper. When Eric Treacy died, his collection of negatives was entrusted to Patrick Whitehouse. From this huge collection Whitehouse and Freeman Allen have selected 300 of Treacy's best photographs to produce a fitting tribute to his life's work.  3.95

Ashworth, Ben  The Last Days of Steam in Gloucestershire, Alan Sutton, 1986, pp137.  Hb.  VG+ in a VG- dust wrapper.  Small internally-repaired tear in the dust wrapper at the head of the spine.  A pictorial album.  3.95

Casserley H C  Preserved Locomotives, IA, 5th edition 1980, pp192.  First published 1967.  Preserved Locomotives was completely revised for the 5th edition with a new format and an enlarged page size.  Hb.  VG in a VG dust wrapper.  Slight loss of colour down the spine of the dust wrapper.  An illustrated history of the many main line locomotive classes preserved whether working or inactive, steam, electric or diesel.  Also contains a comprehensive register of preserved industrial locomotives and foreign engines.  3.95

Creer, Stanley  Cross-Country Steam, IA, 1979, pp80.  Hb.  VG in a VG dust wrapper.  Some loss of colour on the dust wrapper spine.  An Ian Allan album with the focus on cross-country services.  3.95

Cross, Derek  Double-Headed Trains 1 South, IA, 1979, pp96.  Hb.  VG+ in a VG dust wrapper.  Focuses on the Southern Region, the London area, the Western Region, and the Somerset & Dorset.  3.95

Gammell C J  The Steam Age, Bracken, 1988, pp96.  Hb.  VG+ in a VG+ dust wrapper.  1959 was a year of rapid change on British Railways.  This album portrays the scenes, month by month, as the author travelled throughout the British Isles recording the passing of the steam age.  2.95

Garratt, Colin  British Steam Nostalgia, BCA/Thorsons, 1987, pp144.  Fine in a VG+ dust wrapper.  A volume of Colin Garratt's early photographs with sections on the GWR, the LMS, Industrials, BR, the Southern and the LNER.  Mainly black & white but with some colour.  2.95

Garratt, Colin  The Golden Years of British Steam Trains, Milepost, 1995, pp196.  Inscription under the flap of the dust wrapper.  Large Format Hb.  VG+ in a VG dust wrapper.  Atmospheric photographs taken by the Reverend A W V Mace, a prolific railway photographer who was active from the early 1920s until the end of steam.  Divided into four sections covering the GWR, LMS, LNER and SR.  Also published as four separate volumes.  3.95

Garratt, Colin  British Steam Lives!, Bounty Books, 2005, pp144.  Glazed boards with a dust wrapper.  Fine in a Fine dust wrapper.  First published by Blandford Press in 1984.  A tribute to the many British steam locomotives that were exported to countries around the world, illustrated by the author's colour photographs.  3.95

Hagan, Duncan  Indian Summer of Steam, IA, 1980, pp80.  Hb.  VG+ in a VG+ dust wrapper.  High-quality album of post-war steam, all from the author's camera.  3.95

Harris, Nigel  Steam All the Way, W. H. Smith / Silver Link, 1987, pp128.  Large Format Hb.  Fine / Very Good+.  A well-illustrated history of the steam locomotive, with an emphasis on preserved steam.  3.95

Heavyside, Tom  Steam Renaissance: The Decline and Rise of Steam Locomotives in Britain, D&C, 1984, pp128.  The original David and Charles edition.  Large Format.  Hard Cover.  Very Good in a Very Good dust wrapper.  "Tom Heavyside describes and illustrates in text and top class photographs steam locomotives in their last years of regular BR steam duties, the years of misery as classes were withdrawn for scrap, and the years of revival as a major tourist revenue earner."  3.95

Herring, Peter  Classic British Steam Locomotives, Abbeydale Press, 2002, pp192 with numerous illustrations, mainly colour.  Large Format.  Glazed boards with dw.  Fine in a  Fine dust wrapper.  After a brief introduction, a two-page spread is devoted to each class of locomotive.  3.95

Kington, Miles  Steaming through Britain, Unwin Hyman, 1990, pp190.  Large Format Hb.  Fine in a Very Good dust wrapper.  An introduction to the preserved railway scene, aimed at the non-specialist reader, well-illustrated in black & white and colour.  3.95

Mountford, Jon; Dodds, Tom; Evans, Tony; and Adams, David  British Steam Engines: The Ultimate Guide to the Greatest Steam Engines, Igloo, 2010, pp224.  Large Format.  Glazed boards with dust wrapper.  Fine in a VG dust wrapper.  "A stunningly illustrated comprehensive guide to the history of the steam railway in Britain.  The book tracks the development of the steam locomotive from its earliest days in the 1800s through to the great trains of the present day."  2.95

Nock O S  British Locomotives of the 20th Century: Vol. 1 1900-1930, BCA/PSL, 1983, pp257.  Published by Book Club Associates by arrangement with Patrick Stephens Limited.  Hard Cover.  Very Good in a Very Good dust wrapper.  The red title on the spine of the dust wrapper has faded.  The first volume of Ossie Nock's definitive history of British locomotive development since 1900.  3.95

Nock O S  British Locomotives of the 20th Century: Vol. 2 1930 1960, PSL, 1984, pp256.  Small inscription, the number "70."  Hard Cover.  Fine in a Very Good dust wrapper.  Slight loss of colour to the lettering on the spine of the dust wrapper.  The second volume of Ossie Nock's definitive history.  3.95

Nock O S  British Locomotives of the 20th Century: Vol. 3 1960 - the present day, BCA/PSL, 1985, pp257.  Hb.  VG in a VG dust wrapper.  There is a stain across the lower edge of the dust wrapper.  The final volume of Ossie Nock's definitive history, devoted almost exclusively to diesel and electric developments, including the HST.  3.95

Robertson, Kevin  The Last Days of Steam in Oxfordshire, Alan Sutton, 1987, pp137.  Hb.  Fine in a VG dust wrapper.  A fascinating pictorial record of the last days of steam in Oxfordshire.  3.95

Sagar, John  Chapters of Steam: Steam Locomotives of the Worth Valley Railway, Kingfisher, 1984, pp160.  The earlier Kingfisher edition, rather than the later Bracken Books reprint.  Large Format.  Hard Cover.  Very Good in a Very Good dust wrapper.  A pictorial album recording the varied careers of the over fifty locomotives that have appeared on the Worth Valley Railway since preservation.  3.95

Sawford E H  British Railways Steam in the 1950s, AS, 1992, pp184.  Hb.  Fine in a Fine dust wrapper.  A 20 page introduction, followed by locomotive pictures from each region of British Railways.  3.95

Siviter, Roger  Tempo of Steam, IA, 1980, pp128.  Large Format Hb.  VG in a VG dust wrapper.  A high-quality large-format album featuring the best of Siviter's steam photographs from the period 1966 to 1979.  3.95

Siviter, Roger  BR Steam Surrender, Kingfisher, 1988, pp96.  Large Format Hb.  Fine in a Fine dust wrapper.  Published to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the death of steam, with 140 photos covering over 40 locomotive classes.  3.95

Stephenson, Brian and Russell, Patrick  Specials in Steam, IA, 1st edition 1968, pp128.  Hb.  VG in a VG dust wrapper with some superficial wear to the edges of the dust wrapper.  A first edition of a best-selling album recalling the steam specials that ran between 1938 and 1968.  2.95

Treacy, Eric  Lure of Steam, IA, 1967, pp208.  Large Format.  Hard Cover.  Very Good in a Very Good dust wrapper.  Slight wear to the dust wrapper at the base of the spine.  Eric Treacy's first major album, originally published in 1966.  3.95

Treacy, Eric  Portrait of Steam, IA, 1969, ppp200.  Large Format Hb.  VG in a VG dust wrapper.  The dust wrapper is internally repaired at the base of the spine.  The Ian Allan edition rather than the later matt reprint from PRC.  3.95
