Billington, David P  Robert Maillart's Bridges: The Art of Engineering, Princeton University Press, 1979, pp146.  The name of the previous owner has been stamped inside the front cover.  "Largish" landscape format Pb.  VG.  Sight wear to the corners of the covers. Hopkins H J  A Span of Bridges: An Illustrated History, D&C, 1970, pp288 with 125 illustrations.  Bookplate from the previous owner inside the front cover.  Hb. VG- in a Fair dust wrapper.  Some wear to the edges of the covers, and the dust wrapper has been internally repaired at the head & base of the spine.  Traces the evolution of bridge design from the turn of time to the present day.  £4.95

Huxley, Julian  TVA  Adventure in Planning, Architectural Press, 1943, pp142 with 158 illustrations..  VG in a Fair dust wrapper.  Inscription.  Small piece missing and small tears in the foil protected dust wrapper.  Describes the vast Tennessee Valley Authority project, a massive American hydroelectric scheme that was a show piece of Roosevelt’s New Deal.  £4.95

Kittridge, Alan  Rendel's Floating Bridges, Twelveheads, 2008, pp143.  Pb.  VG+.  Rendel's floating bridges were designed to maintain communication across estuaries were bridges were impractical or simply too expensive.  £9.50

Leonhardt, Fritz  Bridges (or Brucken): Aesthetics and Design, The Architectural Press, 1982, pp308.  Large Format Hb.  Fine in a VG+ dust wrapper.  In a cardboard slipcase.  A copiously illustrated study with the text in both English and German.  A pictorial history of bridges and bridge design and construction, from primitive and pedestrian bridges, old stone arch bridges to pre-stressed concrete bridges and the most modern suspension bridges.  Professor Leonhardt is an internationally respected expert on bridge design and was responsible for no fewer than ten bridges across the Rhine as well as many others around the world.  £32.50

(The) Rio-Niteroi Bridge (Brazil), pp20.  No date but c1974.  Large landscape format Pb.  VG.  Slight wear at the front bottom corner of the covers.  An illustrated booklet describing the construction of 13.9 km bridge linking Rio de Janeiro and Niteroi which opened in 1974.  The bridge was built by Redpath Dorman Limited a subsidiary of British Steel Corporation and The Cleveland Bridge and Engineering Company Ltd (Trafalgar House Group).  £3.95

Walther, Rene; Houriet, Bernard; Isler, Walmar and Moia, Pierre  Cable Stayed Bridges, Thomas Telford Limited, 1988, pp196.  First published as Ponts Haubanes in 1985.  Translated by William Crozier.  Large Format.  Glazed Boards.  VG with slight loss of colour to the spine of the covers.  An exceptionally well-illustrated book examining all aspects of the design of cable-stayed bridges - clearly describing the state of the art in the analysis, design and construction of this kind of structure.  £16.50

Whitney, Charles S  Bridges: Their Art, Science & Evolution, Greenwich House, 1983, pp360 with over 400 illustrations, drawings & diagrams.  First published in 1929.  Hb.  VG+ in a VG+ dust wrapper.  A richly illustrated study that examines the principles of bridge design and construction that have engaged the ingenuity and imagination of men from the time of the Romans to the 20th century.  £8.50

Wilkinson, George  Bridging the Humber, Cerialis Press, 1981, pp114.  Published to commemorate the official opening of the bridge in July 1981.  Large Format Pb.  VG.  The story in words and pictures of the building of a bridge, lavishly illustrated in colour.  £3.95

Williams, Archibald  The Romance of Modern Engineering: containing interesting descriptions of the Nile Dam, the Panama Canal, Tower Bridge, the Brooklyn Bridge, the Trans-Siberian Railway, the Niagara Falls Power Co, the Bermuda Floating Dock etc,  Pearson, 1904, pp377.  An attractive hardback, in excellent condition for age.  £8.50

Wittfoht Hans  Building Bridges: History, Technology, Construction, Beton-Verlag, 1984, pp327 with numerous illustrations.  The English edition of a book first published in German.  No dust wrapper, as published.  Large Format Hb.  VG with slight rubbing to the edges of the covers.  "A book on bridges not only for the specialist, but for a large readership."  Note that the author Hans Wittfoht was himself a highly successful designer and builder of bridges.  £16.50
